Mission Statement

The Mission of the Fluvanna County Chamber of Commerce is to support Fluvanna County businesses and promote their success through networking opportunities, educational programs and business advocacy.

Organization & Office

The Fluvanna Chamber of Commerce is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of no less than 9 but no more that 15 people elected by the membership to serve staggered three year terms. The elections coincide with the annual membership meeting held in October. Upon completion of the Board elections each year, the Board selects officers with one-year terms. These Officers form the Executive Committee.

Most of the activities of the Chamber are generated through the efforts of the standing committees. Current standing committees include the Connect, Promote and Education.

The Chamber has open monthly meetings (on the last Tuesday of the month) to discuss the business of the Chamber and current activities of committees. While there are some Board votes taken during the meetings, all members and guests are encouraged to attend. A time for Member comments is provided at the end of every meeting.

The Chamber employs an Executive Assistant who oversees the running of the Chamber office. The Executive Assistant reports to the President and Executive Committee.

Join a Chamber Committee

Connect

The Connect committee is responsible for planning and implementing events, making sure all members are heard and connected with the Chamber and recruiting new members. If you are a creative event planner and love to meet people and help them know they’re important, the Connect committee is the place for you!

 

Promote

Chair: Darryl Gibson (darryl.gibson@atlanticunionbank.com)

On the Promote committee you’ll get the word out about the Chamber via social media and other marketing techniques. You’ll use your skills to make sure everyone knows about Chamber events and the great work the Chamber does to help “Grow Every Business.” You’ll also help get together the Annual Guide. If you love marketing and telling everyone about our services, the promote committee is where you should be!

 

Educate

Chair: Valerie Palamountain (vpalamountain@pvcc.edu)

 The Educate committee chooses webinar and workshop topics and finds speakers for events. As a part of the Educate committee you’ll also oversee the Chamber scholarship program helping to find applicants, choose winners and present the scholarships. If you love teaching and learning and you like directing workshop topics, the Educate committee would love to have you!
